JUST IN: ASUU threatens strike over non payment of salaries, remittance of check off dues

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), has taken steps to picket again over the 'obtrusive' refusal of the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris to take care of the compensations and settlement of check duty of more than 1000 staff for a very long time.

The ASUU executive, University of Jos, Dr. Lazarus Maigoro, who brought the alert up in a press explanation made accessible to columnists in Jos, blamed the AGF for fanning the coal of disagreement between the government and the Union, which may prompt another round of strike activity that may spell destruction for the instruction area.

Maigoro, nonetheless, approached the central government to persuade the AGF to forestall any fracture that may prompt the quick conclusion of college doors the nation over.

As per him, the astounding part of everything is that, in spite of the mandate by President Muhammadu Buhari to impact the prompt installments of compensations of instructors, combined with the marking of the 2020 MoA, the AGF is as yet demanding that the speakers should go to Abuja and register with the IPPIS.

He bemoaned that, "regardless of the mandate given by Mr president to pay the pay rates of all instructors, the AGF has wouldn't pay their pay rates going from four to thirteen months individually. A large number of our individuals in University of Jos and the nation over have not been paid pay rates from February 2020 to date."

He said by this demonstration, the AGF has totally disregarded the conditions of the arrangement endorsed between our "union and the FGN."

As per him, "Mr. Ahmed Idris, from all aim and objects, is set on retaining the pay rates of more than 1,000 individuals from ASUU spread the nation over with more than 100 of such instructors being individuals from our Branch in University of Jos."

Maigoro added that, "more troubling is the way that while the AGF is declining to pay these pay rates, his staff in the OAGF are occupied with calling the influenced teachers and demanding they need to enroll with IPPIS before they are paid; some are even approached to relinquish a piece of their compensations to be paid. So it is exceptionally evident that this is a conscious follow up on the piece of the AGF and his staff."
